For certain types of documents, credible witnesses (2 people who personally know the signer, will attest to their identification and have acceptable identification of their own) may be used when the signer does not possess an acceptable form of identification. I've been a REALTOR(R) for a number of years and have worked with some really great notaries and some not so great ones. The problem was always that I never really controlled who the notary was at the doc signing. The escrow or the mortgage broker took care of it. However, it was always me that heard the complaints.

The biggest one of all was the lack of "empathy" on the part of the signing agent. Here my clients are with pen in hand about to make what for most of them was the biggest purchase of their lives and the signing agent is working with them like they were some cog in the assembly line of their day.

Notary Nomad strives to fix this imperfection in the signing process. It wasn't that the notary doing the signing was doing it wrong. They just made my clients feel uncomfortable. They also made them feel like asking questions is a bad thing. From my prospective, questions are life. As a notary I legally can't answer most of them, however I have the phone numbers of all of folks who can.

Don't trust you clients to just any notary. Make sure they are being treated the way you would want to be treated if you were the client.
