Term	Definition
Perjury	Crime of making a false statement under oath of affirmation in an official proceeding.
Personal Appearance	Appearing face to face and in the same room with a Notary at the time of notarization.
Personal Interest	Any personal involvement in a transaction which would impugn the Notary's impartiality in a transaction involving a notarial act.
Personal Knowledge	Familiarity with an individual resulting from interactions over a period of time sufficient to eliminate every reasonable doubt that the individual has the identity claimed.
PKA	Abbreviation of "professionally known as"; name one uses for professional business purposes, professional alias.
Power of Attorney	Document granting authority for a person to act as attorney in fact for another; Person authorized to act in the legal interests of another.
Primary ID	Government issued identification document with at least the bearer's photograph that may be the sole basis for identification by a Notary Public. It is preferred that ID documents include not only a photograph, but also a signature, physical description and serial or identification number, although state laws vary.
Prothonotary	County clerk, in some states.
